4 injured in Interstate 65 wreck

Four people were taken to a southside hospital after a four-vehicle pile-up on Interstate 65.

Shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday, four vehicles slammed into the back of one another after a car abruptly stopped in slow traffic near the Franklin exit on I-65, according to the accident report.

Jennifer Cobb, 58, and Paige Cobb, 20, both of Westfield, Cameron Schmitz, 26, Pendleton, and Rex Ledford, 61, Cedartown, were taken to Franciscan St. Francis Hospital Indianapolis where they were treated and released, spokesman Joe Stuteville said.

Ledford had to quickly slow down when the driver in front of him hit the brakes. That caused Paige Cobb to hit his car from behind, according to the report.

A third driver, Luis Cisneros, 47, Indianapolis, then struck Paige Cobb. Cisneros was not injured in the accident, according to the report. The fourth driver involved was able to stop their car to only bump the back of Cisneros’ vehicle, according to the report.
