Golf Club announces grand opening of new restaurant and more

Hickory Stick Golf Club announces facility and course enhancements with the unveiling of The Haven at Hickory Stick, a new dining destination open daily to the public.

A community day and grand opening celebration will be held today from 1 to 4 p.m. to showcase the investments in the facility with fun-filled activities for the community to come out and enjoy, located at 4422 Thompson Blvd., Greenwood.

A highlight of the property’s interior transformation is the addition of The Haven at Hickory Stick, a fine/casual restaurant with bar and golfer’s lounge, offering a diverse menu in a relaxed setting. Course upgrades include bunker renovations, a significantly increased maintenance budget fostering better playing conditions, cart path repair, and irrigation technology, all aimed at enhancing the golfer’s experience.

Pizzeria encourages community to nominate teachers

Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria is planning to celebrate teachers across Central Indiana during Teacher Appreciation Week and they need the community’s help nominating dedicated educators making an impact on students’ lives.

From now through May 3, students, parents and administrators are encouraged to nominate their favorite K-12 teacher.

Five local teachers will be celebrated in Indiana. One local teacher will be selected to win “Free Pizza for a Year” from Lou Malnati’s in the form of one free medium cheese pizza per week for 52 weeks and a $250 pizza party package for their school. Additionally, four honorable mentions will be chosen to win a $100 Lou Malnati’s gift card during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 6-10.

Individuals can use an online form to nominate teachers from public or private schools throughout Indianapolis and surrounding communities, writing in 100 words or less why their favorite educator deserves to be recognized. Entries will be judged on the criteria of originality and clear reasoning for nomination.

Labor Dept hosting child labor webinar series

As part of its outreach efforts, the U.S. Labor Department’s Midwest Region will host a free webinar series to increase the understanding of federal child labor law provisions. This event is part of a nationwide effort to keep young workers safe and healthy on the job.

Events will be held Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. and May 14 from 2 to 3 p.m. Register at bit.ly/4d5tw11.

These events are open to employers, managers, HR professionals and parents and will include the following topics:

An overview of federal child labor laws; hours 14 and 15-year-olds can work; dangerous jobs prohibited for 14- and 15-year-olds; dangerous jobs prohibited for all young workers including 16 and 17-year-olds; most common violations.
