ISP: One dead after I-65 road rage incident on southside

One person is dead following a road rage altercation on Interstate 65 on the southside.

A vehicle crash was reported on I-65 northbound between Stop 11 Road and Emerson Avenue in Indianapolis on Wednesday afternoon. Preliminary information from the Indiana State Police shows the crash was a result of a road rage/gunfire altercation on I-65, Sgt. John Perrine said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

One person has been confirmed dead, Perrine said. He added the car left the roadway and went into a drainage pond.

The right two lanes of I-65 are blocked for at least the next 15 minutes between Stop 11 Road and Emerson Avenues. Traffic is backing up as far south as the Main Street exit in Greenwood, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation.
