Special Olympics seeks softball volunteers

The Special Olympics is seeking volunteers for its state softball tournament, which will take place at the Center Grove Lassie League field on Saturday, July 29.

More than 400 athletes from throughout the state are expected to take part. Lunches are furnished for the Special Olympics athletes and booths will be set up to sell athletic shirts and items. Volunteers will be needed to work as umpires, serve meals and assist athletes. Military golf outing seeking teams

Helping Hands For Freedom, a nonprofit aiding families of fallen, wounded and deployed military personnel, has several spots left in its golf outing.

The four-person scramble will be held on July 16 at Bear Chase Golf Club in Shelbyville. Registration begins at 10:30 am and golf starts at noon.

The cost is $300 per team or $75 per golfer and includes lunch, dinner and golf. For more information or to register, contact Paul Gable at 317-412-7881.
