The 10-ranked Center Grove girls cross-country team ran away with the sectional championship in convincing fashion Tuesday at Franklin Community High School.

Led by individual champion senior Tori Schoettmer, the Trojans outdistanced runner-up Perry Meridian 20 to 82. Franklin was third with 88, followed by Mooresville (93) and Southport (119).

The top five teams and top 15 individuals from non-advancing teams advance to Saturday’s Greensburg regional.

Schoettmer, a three-time state qualifier, led from start to finish and recorded a winning time of 19:08.98 over the 5-kilometer course.

With Schoettmer setting the pace, the Trojans ran as a group throughout the race and crossed the finish line with junior Shelbi Dishman finishing third. Seniors Delainey Burnett and Morgan Lee were fourth and fifth, respectively, while freshman Alexa Kovacs was seventh and junior Rachel Dever was 20th.
