In a small crossroads village south of Bargersville, a community institution is celebrating a milestone.
People have gathered to worship at Providence Christian Church for the past 175 years. They’ve seen their church grow from 12 members to 250 strong. They have watched the building expand and have tried to blend contemporary worship with its tradition-laden past.
That history will be on display during a special homecoming celebration this weekend. Providence Christian Church has invited past clergy and members to return, and together with the current congregation, they’ll honor an institution that connects them to the community’s founding in the 1830s.
