New softball coach Stephanie Senac watches practice Friday, March 8, 2013, at Greenwood High School in Greenwood, Indiana. Scott Roberson / Daily Journal

Softball has long carried an air of unpredictability, though Greenwood Community High School might be taking it to new extremes this spring.

Former Woodmen assistant Stephanie Senac, promoted to head coach in December following the retirement of Mike Baker, is seven months pregnant with her and her husband, Callun’s, first child.

Greenwood opens its season a week from today at home against Indian Creek and concludes with a game at Edinburgh on May 17. This two-month window at some point might wind up including some frantic moments during a practice or game.
