Whiteland’s team buses arrived late Friday at Martinsville, but neither team wasted time getting its offense in gear once the game kicked off — about 50 minutes later than scheduled.
Senior running back Aaron Harris rushed for 84 yards and one touchdown in the first half to help the Warriors forge a 21-all tie at halftime. But it was pretty much all Martinsville after that.
Artesians junior quarterback Mason Kutruff completed 17 of 22 passes for 222 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for another score to help Class 5A Martinsville beat Class 5A Whiteland 56-34 in a Mid-State Conference game.
Harris added only five more yards in the second half to finish with 89 for the game. Whiteland junior running back Zack Duff rushed for 62 yards and two touchdowns.
