A teenager received minor injuries after being hit by a car while riding a bicycle in Franklin.
Damien Chase, 13, of Green-wood, was riding a bicycle north on Lovers Lane at the intersection of State Road 44 just west of Interstate 65 about 7 p.m. Aug. 30, according to a Franklin Police Department report.
Sandra Smith, 50, of Lebanon, was driving west on State Road 44 and stopped at a red light at the intersection, which is near two busy gas stations and several fast-food restaurants.
Smith told police the light turned green, and a truck in front of her drove through the intersection. She did not see Chase on the bicycle when she started to drive, according to the report.
Smith’s car and Chase’s bicycle collided, the report said. A second driver stopped to help Chase to the side of the road. Smith told police she circled back to the intersection to see if the teen was OK, the report said.
Chase received bruises on his forehead and right arm. He was not taken to the hospital. His bicycle was damaged, according to the report.
