I have a question that I never thought to ask my Grandpa Ralph Hommel before he died three years ago. Maybe my dad or one of my aunts or uncles knows the answer.
I even closed my eyes and envisioned my Grandpa Ralph walking from the barn trying to remember, but I wasn’t sure.
The question? “Grandpa, do you have a favorite tool — one of those that you naturally grab first because it fits well in your hand and for most situations?”
I may be wrong (and if I am, I will surely be laughed at and biffed upside the head by my uncles this weekend), but I remember a round-end shovel in his hands a lot. I know that’s my dad’s tool of choice in his garden.
