Center Grove, Greenwood bands earn trip to state finals

Two local marching bands earned berths to state finals after placing in the top 10 in their class at semistate competition.

Center Grove’s Marching Trojans and Greenwood’s Marching Woodmen will compete at the Indiana State School Music Association state finals Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Bands earned the berth by placing in the top 10 of their class. Center Grove competes in Class A; Greenwood in Class B.

The Whiteland Marching Warriors also participated in the Class B semistate contest but did not advance to the state finals.

Area trick-or-treat hours

Whiteland: 6 to 8 p.m.

Hillview Country Club, 1800 E. King St.: 6 to 9 p.m.

Morning Pointe Assisted Living, 75 S. Milford Drive, Franklin: 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday

Local Special Olympics

receives $4,000 grant

Special Olympics Johnson County has been awarded a $4,000 grant from the Johnson County Community Foundation.

The grant will be used to promote sports training programs.

Special Olympics Johnson County has been serving Johnson County for more than 20 years.
