Center Grove High School's principal will leave to take another job at the end of the school year.

Principal Matt Shockley announced today he will become the principal of Avon High School in July.

Shockley joined Center Grove High School in 2001 and worked for four years as an assistant principal. He became the high school's interim principal in 2004, and full-time principal in 2005, according to a news release.

"We are disappointed that he is leaving but wish him well. It is hard to find an individual with such high moral character as Mr. Shockley. Matt has been a tremendous influence on the community and school. His dedicated leadership guided the high school to many great accomplishments," Superintendent Richard Arkanoff said in the news release.
