A Center Grove area daycare will remain open after reaching an agreement with the state, which previously ordered the facility to shut down by this week.
Little Angels Daycare and Preschool at White River Baptist Church will not shut down, but must meet 10 requirements outlined in a new agreement, including becoming licensed with the state in order to remain open.
The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration revoked the daycare registration on Jan. 31 after determining that a man affiliated with the church who was accused of inappropriately touching a child in March 2012 was on the property.
No arrest was made in the incident because Greenwood police were unable to gather enough evidence. The state, however, told the daycare that the man was not allowed at the church whenever the daycare was open.
Little Angels reached an agreement with the state Wednesday to become a licensed child care center, which means the daycare will have to meet additional rules and stricter guidelines. The daycare was operating as a registered child care ministry, which must only meet basic state health and safety requirements.
