As hordes of football fans stream into Lucas Oil Stadium, they’re greeted by the pounding of snare drums and the crash of cymbals.
The new Indianapolis Colts Drumline plays marches and hip-hop songs, classic tunes and dance numbers to get fans fired up. Sometimes they ask children to help them bang on a snare drum while they play or fans to come up and boogie.
All 12 drumline members are Center Grove alumni or teachers. They have become the rhythmic heartbeat of the Indianapolis Colts’ pregame festivities.
The musical attraction is an effort by the Colts to add life to the sometimes sterile atmosphere at NFL games. They have formed a drumline, playing pep songs in an effort to ratchet up the energy levels before the games.
