Center Grove seniors Tori Schoettmer and Jordan Timmons finished 1-2 in the annual Johnson County Girls Cross Country Championship at Franklin Community High School on Saturday. The Trojans had a perfect score of 15 to earn the title.


The 10th-ranked Center Grove girls cross country team recorded a perfect score of 15 to win Saturday’s Johnson County Girls Cross Country Meet at Franklin.

Senior Tori Schoettmer led for the Trojans with a winning time of 18:45.

Jordan Timmons, Delainey Burnett, Marissa Ericson and Morgan Lee finished second through fifth, respectively for Center Grove.

Rachel Dever and Alexa Kovacs finished seventh and ninth, respectively, for the Trojans.

“Our team has been awesome this year,” said Schoettmer, a three-time individual state qualifier. The results were just what we wanted, a perfect score.

“We’ve worked really hard to get to this point.”

Filling out the top 10 individuals were Franklin’s Morgan McCarter (sixth), Greenwood’s Alyia Rosado (eighth) and Whiteland’s Mariah Young (10th).

Runner-up Franklin had a team score of 57 followed, by Whiteland (87), Greenwood (97) and Indian Creek (125). With only three runners, Edinburgh had an incomplete score.

On the boys side, Center Grove also won the team championship with a score of 48. Indian Creek was second (59), followed by Franklin (64), Whiteland (80) and Greenwood (87). Edinburgh did not have enough runners for a team score.
