City commissions pair of studies for east side traffic

Franklin will spend about $45,000 on two studies that will measure traffic on the city’s east side and examine the need for new walking paths or crosswalks to connect walkers and bikers to local schools.

The city board of works approved spending $31,400 for a traffic study on East King Street, which will count the number of vehicles on the road near Interstate 65 and at Eastview Drive.

The city also wants to find out how many trucks are using that stretch of road daily.
