Not a single Center Grove runner finished in the top five at Tuesday’s IHSAA Boys Cross Country Sectional Meet at Franklin. But the Trojans collectively burned up the course.

Center Grove out-paced runner-up Shelbyville 65 to 80 for its first team sectional title since 2006.

Franklin and Greenwood placed third and fourth, respectively, and will join the Trojans at Saturday’s Greensburg Regional.

Woodmen junior David Dalton finished second overall behind Mooresville senior Michael Passmore, who won the individual title with a time of 16:11.03.

Sophomore Griffin Miller led the way for the Trojans with a seventh-place finish, and Center Grove senior Jacob Branam came in ninth.

Grizzly Cubs sophomore Blaine Connor took sixth place, and junior teammate Camden Maclennan finished eighth.

Despite the win team, Trojans coach Howard Harrell said he expected quicker individual times.
