College update: Former Warriors slugger powers Sycamores

Indiana State softball player Shelby Wilson had seven hits, six RBIs and five runs scored in 13 at-bats as the Sycamores (9-10) won two of five games in the Bulldog Invitational in Athens, Ga.

The Whiteland graduate raised her batting average to .446 (25 for 56), second-best in the Missouri Valley Conference. She leads the conference in hits, is fourth in RBIs (17); second in total bases; and third in runs scored. Among the junior’s 25 hits are three home runs and five doubles.

Liberty reliever Ashton Perritt pitched the final inning of the 9-3 Flames’ 4-0 baseball win against Siena and retired the three batters he faced, one on a strikeout. The sophomore pitched the last two innings in a 4-3 win against Army and received credit for the win, while giving up one hit and two walks and striking out one. He has pitched 5-1/3 innings this season and given up two hits, three walks and no runs while striking out four and has been credited with two saves and one win.
