College update: Greenwood product helps Rose-Hulman

Rose-Hulman football player Ryan Gallagher, a Greenwood graduate, intercepted a pass, recovered a fumble, had three solo tackles and assisted on three others in the 2-2 Engineers’ 28-26 win against Manchester.

The senior linebacker was selected second-team all-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference as a junior and, with 27 tackles this year, continues to be one of Rose-Hulman’s top defenders.

• The Hanover volleyball team (11-8) won four of five matches last week, losing 3-1 to Ohio Northern and defeating Baldwin-Wallace and Muskingum 3-1, and Earlham and Capital 3-0. Ashley Burakiewicz had 33 kills, 50 digs, three blocks, two service aces and two assists in the five matches. She had a double-double (17 kills and 20 digs) against Baldwin-Wallace.

• The IU-Southeast tennis team lost 6-3 to Rose-Hulman and defeated Berea 8-1. Katie Walsh lost 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 singles and 8-6 at No. 1 doubles to Rose-Hulman and won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles before losing 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1 singles against Berea.
