INDIANAPOLIS

Not only could Robert Griffin III stride atop water a week ago at this time, he seemed capable of doing so without getting his cleats or game socks wet.

Griffin’s stunningly impressive Week 1 performance in New Orleans was enough to encourage whispers that as the week progressed seemed to expand into full-fledged dialogue:

Is it possible the Indianapolis Colts used their No. 1 slotting in last April’s draft to select — gulp! — the wrong guy?

Andrew Luck has no trendy Ro-man numeral in his name (AL I?). Still, on Sunday he must have muzzled some of those guilty of straddling the fence in the ongoing Luck-RGIII debate. You know, the one promising to die down right around the time the two are sitting in rocking chairs playing checkers in front of a Cracker Barrel.
