One of the main purposes of religion is to provide hope.
Many religions, but not all, offer hope of an afterlife. However, all religions offer hope for a better world.
With all the religions being practiced in the world, we might think that there is a surplus of hope. But there are many signs that hope is a disappearing commodity.
