Hats off to Clark Elementary School students and counselor Kelly Forey for their exciting and successful Hats Off to Drug-Free Choices day. Clark Elementary collected more than $300 from students paying $1 each to support the drug-free theme, and chose to donate the money raised to Tobacco Free Johnson County to help provide free tobacco education programs to county schools. Your donation is much appreciated and accepted on behalf of the thousands of students who have attended and will continue to attend these excellent tobacco education awareness and prevention programs.

We would like to thank the community, friends and neighbors for all of the support and help with the Banta Community Hog Roast on Oct 13. It was a huge success. A special thank-you to Billy Russell, Steve Baker and to all of the workers who helped make it a great event. We hope everyone who came had a good time.

I just wanted to say a great big thank-you to the Johnson County Highway Department for the two new bridges on Roszell Drive in Prince’s Lakes. The flood of 2008 is almost history for us. Thanks again.
We would like to thank Heartland Community Bank for the donation of office furniture and office supplies. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Also, a big heart to Lowe’s for our new playground equipment, outdoor furniture and storm door. You have made our girls very happy and your heartfelt donation is greatly appreciated.

Hearts to Johnson County Highway Department for finally cleaning up along County Road 225N. It certainly was looking bad after a long summer of neglect. It looks really nice and we appreciate it.

Hearts to Mike Schoenberg and his sons for volunteering their time and talents to install lighting at Proctor Memorial Park in New Whiteland. The additional lighting adds so much to this lasting tribute to all who have served our country and our communities. Thank you for partnering with us in our efforts to honor these heroes.
Hearts and hardy congratulations to Chief Warrant Officer Frank Vaughn on your retirement from the Indiana National Guard after more than 39 years of service. You are an inspiration and encouragement to many and a hero to even more. Your service to your community, your state and this beloved country has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated. We wish you a long and happy retirement. Thank you for your service.
KIC-IT (Kids in Crisis-Intervention Team) would like to send a heartfelt thank-you to Johnson County for its support serving homeless youth. Though the outpouring has been significant and we cannot possibly thank everyone in a paragraph, special thanks to all the churches and individuals donating hot, nourishing meals weekly. Thanks to all the individuals and companies supporting the KIC-IT van setup, conversion and maintenance. Also, a shout-out also to the donors, volunteers and partners, whose tireless efforts have made a big difference in a short time. We are blessed to live in a generous and philanthropic community.

Hearts to the Johnson County commissioners for taking the high road to protect all workers and citizens by making all Johnson County smoke-free: not an easy decision, but the right one that will produce results for years to come.

A big thank-you to to Beve Shelton and Kohl’s department store for supplying five volunteers to the Franklin Community High School Band Boosters as we hosted the Indiana State School Music Association semistate marching band competition. Thank you Deer Valley Golf Course for donating the use of golf carts to the recent band festival. We appreciate your generosity to our program.
