Cody Starnes finished the 2010 season with 63 tackles, a number that would apparently be accompanied by one of those sky-is-the-limit taglines for a sophomore linebacker starting for a Class 5A football program.
The future was his. All his. But he would have to wait.
During the first practice of the 2011 season, Starnes, then a Whiteland junior counted on by Warriors coach Darrin Fisher to be the one of the team’s defensive leaders, tore his left ACL.
The subsequent surgery sidelined Starnes for the season.
