Johnson County’s burn ban has been lifted just in time for Labor Day.
The Johnson County Commissioners decided Monday that the ban was no longer necessary with the amount of rain the county has received in the past month and the visible plant growth in recent weeks, commissioner and Greenwood Fire Department Lt. Tom Kite said.
Between 3 and 6 inches of rain have fallen across the county in the past 30 days, according to the National Weather Service. The area west of Franklin has seen the most rain at about 7 inches while the southern parts of the county have had about 3 inches.
