Eric Moore has referred to junior backs Lane Morris and Logan Hutson as the thunder and lightning of Center Grove’s wing-T offense.
Meteorologically speaking, the 14th-year coach might not be doing the skies above the Trojans’ football complex justice.
Considering four different ball carriers have cracked the 200-yard barrier through five games, and seven players have accounted for at least one rushing touchdown, that’s enough lightning streaks to suitably backdrop a horror flick.
“This year is probably the fastest group of backs we’ve had since 2008 and probably one of our top two or three groups of backs since I’ve been here,” said Moore, whose sixth-ranked Trojans host winless Lawrence North tonight in what will be Center Grove’s homecoming. “They all run with real good body lean, good football presence.
“You have Lane and Logan. Then, as soon as you take your eye off No. 32, bam, he can strike.”
