Two Edinburgh residents have been charged with neglect after police say they found drugs in an apartment with a child.
Devin Wayne Streeval, 26, 502 N. Lincoln St., Apt. 2, and Beth Anne Hoffman, 26, 6184 W. County Road 900S, have been charged with neglect of a dependent, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after police searched the Lincoln Street residence Jan. 17.
Edinburgh police went to the apartment to arrest Streeval on a warrant for a probation violation and smelled burned marijuana, according to a police report.
Hoffman and her child were in the apartment at the time.
Hoffman said she was not living at the apartment, but police said they found her clothes and other personal items in the apartment.
Police searched the apartment and recovered several burned marijuana cigarettes, marijuana and smoking pipes made of plastic bottles, plastic tubes, aluminum foil and wood, the police report said. Police also found a box above the child’s bed with toys, ammunition casings and one cartridge inside, the report said.
Hoffman was arrested Feb. 14, and Streeval was arrested Monday. They both were taken to the Johnson County jail.
Hoffman was released on $5,000 bond. Streeval was released on $10,000 bond.
