Couples choose wedding date with heart in mind

Rachael Slavens and Scott Dean said no to lavish Valentine’s Day gifts.
No flowers. No chocolates in big red boxes.
Instead, they chose to give each other something more memorable on the most romantic day of the year.
The couple exchanged wedding vows Thursday morning, becoming man and wife after dating for three years.
Theirs was one of the five weddings on Valentine’s Day at the Johnson County Courthouse. Throughout the day, couples entered into marriage under a trellis decorated with pink and red hearts.
For those who took part, it was an opportunity to take an already romantic day and make it special for the rest of their lives.
