The Daily Journal advertising department won top awards in a statewide newspaper advertising and design contest.
Advertising representatives and designers earned first-place awards in five divisions and won 12 awards overall.
The awards were part of the Indiana Newspaper Advertising Executives Association and Hoosier State Press Association Foundation competition, which recognizes outstanding sales and design efforts.
“Effective advertising layouts combined with our newspaper coverage provides our advertisers with powerful results they need to sustain their businesses,” advertising director Christina Cosner said. “We are proud that our advertising staff continues to deliver top-notch results for southside businesses and meet their ever-changing advertising needs.”

First place to Miranda Stockdall, Kelsey DeClue and Margo Winninger in the non-inserted niche publication category for SOUTH Magazine

First place to Tina Ray and Shellie Parr in the food and drug ad category for a McDonald’s advertisement.

First place to Ray and Cindy Warren in the multiple advertiser with a common theme for vacation Bible school ads.

Second place to Amanda Waltz and the staff in the event marketing category for the SOUTH Magazine Ladies Night Out ad.

Second place to Waltz and staff in the non-inserted niche publication category for the Southside Wedding Guide.

Second place to Ray and Mike Crute in the political advertisement category for a Ron West campaign ad.

Third place to Ray and Cosner in the entertainment and lifestyles category for the Franklin Rotary Club wine event advertisement.

Third place to Ray and Warren in the education, churches and nonprofits category for a SS. Francis and Clare Roman Catholic Church ad.

Third place to Ray and Molly Wade in the professional services category for an ad for Forest Lawn Memory Gardens and Funeral Home.

Second place to Wade and Dave Windisch in the professional services category for an ad for G.H. Herrmann Funeral Home at The Gardens at Olive Branch.
The awards were announced Friday at the Indiana Newspaper Advertising Executives Association and Hoosier State Press Association Foundation annual advertising conference.
The Daily Journal is owned by Columbus-based Home News Enterprises. In all, the company’s publications, which include The Republic newspaper of Columbus, the Brown County Democrat, the Greenfield Reporter and the Seymour Tribune, earned a total of 47 awards.
