As a fifth-grade teacher and the mother of two teenagers, Becki Habig is accustomed to offering advice.
From settling disputes on the playground to offering encouragement to a reluctant learner, Habig has long assumed the role of adviser and cheerleader. This summer, however, Habig took the advice of her own daughter, Hayli, quite seriously.
Hayli Habig persuaded the family of four from Greenwood to plan and take a mission trip to San Ramon, Costa Rica. She came back from a church-sponsored mission trip full of excitement and determination to help those less fortunate.
“Hayli had gone on mission trips to states and abroad and had acquired a love for it. Mission work kind of trickled down to all of us,” Becki Habig said.
