In the eyes of her child, a mother is the world. She’s a superhero who can make nightmares disappear with a hug. She can make peanut butter and jelly with the crusts cut off taste like the best snack ever. In the madness before school starts, mom makes sure you’re up on time, dressed to perfection and out the door in time to catch the bus. The Daily Journal asked children from across Johnson County to talk about all of the things they love about their mother. Their responses differed in detail, but all shared a common theme — love.

What is your favorite thing about your mom?
I like when she tucks me in bed at night. When I was really young, she would tell me stories about princesses, like Aurora. She was my favorite princess.
What will you do for your mom on Mother’s Day?
I’ll hug her and get her a present that she really likes. I always like to get her chocolate, since she really loves chocolate. And her favorite color is green, so I like to get her some clothes that are green.
