Next month, a group of students from Japan will teach Franklin students about Japanese language and culture.

Every year a group of students from Kuji, Japan, visit Franklin during their New Year’s break. This year, the students will arrive Jan. 8, and go to local sporting events, tour the city and attend classes at Franklin Community middle and high schools, where they’ll have the chance to learn about American culture and teach Franklin students about their own traditions.

Franklin and Kuji have been sister cities — a cooperation between distant towns that allows them to share their cultures — since 1960, and for the past six years groups of students from the small, rural Japanese community have visited Franklin, organizer Greg Moore said.
