A fire destroyed a garage and four vehicles in Edinburgh early Wednesday.
The homeowner had an auto repair shop in the detached two-car garage at 504 S. Pleasant St., Edinburgh Fire Chief Allen Smith said. The fire caused an estimated $50,000 to $75,000 in damage to the garage and vehicles he was working on that were parked outside.
Firefighters put out the blaze before it spread to the house or any other buildings, Smith said. No one was injured.
Neighbors who saw smoke called 911 at 5:20 a.m. The garage was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, but they put the fire out in about 10 minutes, Smith said. Flames shot a few feet into the air, and the smoke could be seen across town, he said.
