Indiana’s new public access counselor brings a unique background to the position that surely will help him as he reviews cases and make decisions about whether governments have violated public access laws.
Luke Britt, a Center Grove High School graduate, took over as the access counselor last week. When governments decide to withhold documents or close meetings to the public, he can be asked to review the case and determine whether officials were following the law. He also can help local government officials learn the laws of what is considered public information.
He said the position focuses on keeping government transparent.
