Just more than a year ago, a monstrous tornado cut a swath of destruction across southern Indiana, leaving death, injury and devastation in its wake.
Some of the affected communities are still rebuilding.
Tornadoes can strike at any time. A vivid local reminder of that occurred Sept. 20, 2002, when a tornado ripped through the Center Grove area and continued into Perry Township in Marion County. The twister left a trail of devastation that included severe damage to a White River Township fire station and the Baxter YMCA and destroyed parts of a shopping center.
