Editorial: Education integral in drug-abuse prevention

The drug scene can change so quickly that it’s hard for parents to keep up. Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox wants to help by presenting a public forum.

The program will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Christian Church, 2045 Averitt Road, Greenwood.

Cox wants parents to hear and remember a story from earlier this year: On Mother’s Day weekend, police had to tell parents their child had died of a drug overdose. After he talks about telling Jeanine Motsay that her 16-year-old son, Samuel Motsay, died from taking a new hallucinogen, Jeanine Motsay will talk about her life since then.
