Leaders of the Johnson County Public Library are starting to focus on possible projects and what library branches should offer in the future. Should there be more e-books and fewer hardbacks? Should the library offer more programs for people training for new careers or furthering their education?
In other words, just what should be the role of a public library in the 21st century?
This is a fundamental question, and library leaders are wise to discuss this question ahead of any plans to facilities. After all, the design of any building should follow its function.
