When drivers for Access Johnson County took on more routes, they no longer had time to deep clean their vans. But a year ago, volunteers for the United Way’s annual Day of Caring took care of it.
Other teams from local businesses, churches and civic organizations made repairs at the Social of Greenwood, completed office work for nonprofit agencies and helped those agencies’ clients with tasks they couldn’t handle on their own, such as painting, gardening and cleaning gutters.
Nearly 300 people from 28 companies and organizations in the county helped agencies paint, make repairs, file paperwork and give everything a good scrubbing. The day marks the start of the annual fundraising campaign for the United Way of Johnson County.
