Ex-Trojans standouts enjoy big weeks

Two Center Grove graduates played major roles in leading their teams to victories this past week.

IPFW men’s basketball player Joe Reed had 18 points (5 for 9, 1 for 1, 7 for 8) and eight rebounds, both team highs, along with two assists, in just 18 minutes in the 12-5 Mastodons’ 110-74 win against Kalamazoo. The 6-foot-8 sophomore led his team with eight rebounds in 25 minutes in a 65-60 defeat of Bowling Green. In that game he also had two assists, one blocked shot and one point (0 for 3, 1 for 2).

Arizona swimmer Emma Schoettmer won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.71) and the 200 breaststroke (2:14,86) and was a member of the winning 200 medley relay team in a four-way meet with Oregon State, Northern Arizona and New Mexico, won by the Wildcats. The sophomore was fourth of 14 in the 100 IM (2:10.93).
