Column: Expanding vote centers will help election turnout

Voters across Johnson County voters are expected to cast their ballots for president, governor and local school boards in the upcoming election, and the county wants to cut down on the time it takes to vote.

To do that, the county has added three places where voters can cast ballots, and each will have more voting machines. The additions    are an adjustment to this spring’s overhaul of the way the county had    voted for decades.

In May, the county started using vote centers, where voters could cast ballots at any of 19 locations across the county. But now, the county wants to add vote centers in anticipation of more voters and possibly longer lines in November. The new sites will be added at the White River Township Trustee Office, Community Church of Greenwood and Amity fire station, Johnson County Clerk Sue Anne “Susie” Misiniec said.
