A fire at a furniture store south of Franklin caused more than $200,000 in damage and will close the store for at least three months.

Fire investigators and the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the Saturday fire at Long’s Furniture World, on U.S. 31 in Amity.

The investigation has determined the fire started inside the building and spread to mattresses stacked outside. The cause has not been determined, Amity Fire Chief Jackie Brockman said.

Brockman said he made the decision to contact the fire marshal’s office because of the magnitude of the fire and that it involved a large business and potentially sizable loss.
