Franklin College runners earn conference honors

CROSS COUNTRY

Franklin College’s Hillary Cain, who on Saturday started the season with a first-place finish in the Sodexo Grizzly Invitational, has been named the HCAC Women’s Cross-Country Runner of the Week.

The sophomore covered the 5K course with a career-best time of 18:53.04 and was the only competitor to finish in less than 19 minutes. Franklin placed fourth among seven schools in the season-opening event at Johnson County Horse Park.

Franklin College junior Kristopher Sandlin, who on Saturday finished second overall in the Sodexo Grizzly Invitational at Johnson County Horse Park, has named the HCAC Men’s Cross-Country Runner of the Week.

Sandlin led the Grizzlies to a fourth-place team finish at the meet with a second-place time of 26:54.86 on the 8K course.
