A Franklin organization donated more than 1,200 items of clothing and toiletries to veterans for the holidays.

Members of the Benevolent and Fraternal Order of Elks Lodge 1818 in Franklin delivered the items to the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis on Friday morning.

The organization raised about $8,000 through the year, and the state office returned half of that for the Franklin lodge to use for veterans. Members Ken Austin and Mike Hall were able to purchase and deliver items such as hats, gloves, shoes, pants, deodorant and makeup.
