As many as 100 new parking spaces are planned for downtown Franklin with new and bigger parking lots.
The plan to add more parking has been in the works for months, but recently city officials found ways to add more spaces. The original plan included 30 new spaces but is now up to 86.
Mayor Joe McGuinness wants to see as many as 100 new parking spaces added.
Residents and downtown visitors have complained for years about a lack of parking downtown, especially during special events such as Strawberries on the Square.
