Franklin wrestlers capture state championships




Bob Hasseman is a large enough man that he barely budged the instant D.J. Smith jumped into his embrace.

That’s not to imply Franklin Community’s wrestling coach wasn’t moved.

Smith became the third state champion in the program’s rich history by way of a 5-3 decision over East Noble junior Garrett Pepple in the 113-pound finale at the IHSAA Wrestling State Finals.
