North Central fullback Chase VanSchoyck is still excited about breaking the IHSAA single-game rushing record with a 511-yard performance as the Thunderbirds defeated host Riverton Parke 67-0 Friday night.

VanSchoyck broke the previous record of 489 yards set by Cathedral’s Otis Shannon in 1999. VanSchoyck had 460 of his yards at halftime Friday. He played three plays in the second half.

VanSchoyck scored seven touchdowns (14, 96, four, 73, one, 63, 38 yards) as North Central improved to 6-1 this season.

“I figured it was going to be a big night,” said VanSchoyck, who had 168 yards after North Central’s first two possessions.
