Jackson Hughes is a junior at Franklin Community High School.

He is a district and Franklin chapter president of the Business Professionals of America.

He is preparing to compete at the club’s state competition in March.

Reporter Magen Kritsch asked him the following questions:

How did you get involved in Business Professionals of America?

“I joined my freshman year because it seemed interesting, and now it has grown into a passion.”

How are you preparing for state?

“Practice, practice, practice.”

How did you choose the events you are competing in?

“I decided that I had the most realistic chance to make it to state and possibly farther on my selected events — interview skills and presentation management team.”

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

“I see myself either working in marketing and public relations or beginning my career as a lawyer.”

If you could have dinner with any three people, past or present, who would they be?

“Ben Franklin, Napoleon and John F. Kennedy.”

What is the most interesting thing you have learned in school this year?

“That a thesis statement doesn’t have to be at the beginning of your paper.”

Who are the top three artists on your iPod?

Imagine Dragons, Calvin Harris and Ed Sheeran

What television show do you have to watch every week?

“Modern Family”

What reality show would you be on?

“None; I don’t watch reality shows.”

How many text messages do you send a month?

“Too busy to text.”

If you have an hour of free time, what are you most likely to do?

“Read a fun book.”
