Two Greenwood elementary schools will be expanded this year in order to add classroom and office space in response to growth.

School board members approved borrowing $4.3 million to pay for classrooms and offices at Southwest Elementary School, classrooms at Westwood Elementary School, and equipment and technology upgrades.

The Southwest expansion already was planned for this year, but school officials decided to add Westwood expansion in order to save money on legal and design costs. School officials originally discussed waiting to 2014 to complete the Westwood project.
