Despite their finish, members of the Greenwood girls golf team have no complaints about the postseason.
After all, only 15 teams qualified for the IHSAA State Meet.
The Woodmen, who were never ranked in the top 20 at any point in the season, were among the elite 15.
Although they placed 15th in the 15-team field during Saturday’s final round of the two-day state finals at The Legends of Indiana Golf club, the Woodmen — who were making their first appearance since 2003 — wouldn’t trade the experience for anything.
“It’s awesome finishing my last season in the state finals,” Colleen Clawson said. “It’s been a long time since we’ve been there, so it’s amazing that it happened for us.”
Senior teammate Taylor Vaziri, who played the No. 1 position all season, agreed. Her only lament is that the season is over.
“I’m so happy that we got to be here,” Vaziri said. “But it’s kind of sad because our team got so close this year, since we were with each other every day.”
Vaziri finished with a two-day total of 169 (82-87). Clawson had a 174 (90-84).
