Greenwood pharmacist arrested

For at least six months, a Greenwood man stole hundreds of prescription painkillers from the pharmacy where he worked, police said.

Anthony Gamm, 49, who has been charged with multiple counts of theft and possession of a controlled substance, told police he suffered from a nerve disorder and needed relief.

An investigation found that since at least January 780 Oxycontin pills were taken from a CVS Pharmacy in Greenfield, where Gamm worked as a pharmacist, according to the police report.

Gamm told police he made up patient names and filled prescriptions, then deleted the prescriptions and pocketed the pills, the report said.

He told police he suffered from neuropathy, a nerve disorder, but didn't want to go to the doctor, the report said.

The value of the pills taken totaled more than $12,000, the report said.

Gamm, 3331 Tournament Court, was released from the Hancock County jail on $1,000 bond.
