Greenwood teacher arrested on charges of child seduction

A Greenwood Community High School teacher was arrested after police found him naked in a car with one of his students.

Tim Guilfoy, 36, Indianapolis, was arrested on two charges of child seduction, an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department report said.

Police found Guilfoy and a 17-year-old girl in a truck after 1 a.m. Saturday, after receiving a call about a suspicious vehicle. Officers found Guilfoy's truck parked in the 8800 block of South Madison Avenue, just north of County Line Road, and asked him to roll down the window.

Guilfoy was naked, and when asked what he and the girl were doing, Guilfoy told the officers they were having sex, the report said. He also told the officers he was a teacher and the girl was one of his students, the report said.

Under Indiana law, child seduction occurs when a sexual relationship occurs between someone between 16 and 18 years old and an adult in a position of trust, including a teacher.

Guilfoy has been a teacher at Greenwood schools since 2000, and coached varsity girls golf last fall.

Indianapolis police told Greenwood school officials about the arrest on Saturday, and Guilfoy resigned from the school district. The school district will cooperate with law enforcement officials during their investigation, school officials said in a news release.

The Marion County Prosecutor's Office is waiting for the investigation to be complete before deciding what, if any, charges to file, a spokesperson said.
